Christians: Why does the Bible condone slavery, genocide and stoning (among other things)?
Yes, why does it? Christians and Jews lack a valid reason why the Israelites found all those things to be important enough to be in a book of God's "word". We're all quick to agree, that they were wrong in a lot of ways. Yet, we cannot deny their claims of the God. Everything else they said can be denounced, except the part about God, or messages directly from God that have not been misinterpreted. There is double standards... "There is a God, but he didn't say that." or "it's out of context." Christians use the "context" card, with little understanding of the word. The God that the Israelites made up is atrocious, agreed. The God it was altered to, by the Christians is half as atrocious. And yet, today he supposely lacks all those characteristics, as if they were just lies written to scare people. Which is my point exactly. People make up stuff about God to fit the generation, and over thousands of years and thousands of generations, God has changed drastically, despite one expecting the "omnipotent" to be consistent. Omnipotent beings shouldn't have to learn from their mistakes, that is a flaw with Bible logic.
