Jim Carrey plays a young homosexual that tries to commit suicide.?

I watched a movie on WE that Jim Carry played in, he was a homosexual that tried to kill himself over disapproval from his parents. He was in his early 20's at the oldest in the film. In the ending credits they displayed his name as James Carrey not Jim Carrey. It was NOT one of his comedies, it was actually a very serious film. Dose anyone have the name of the movie? I LOVED it but can't remember the name to save my life… P.S. he wasn't the main person, but he was like the brother of the main girl or something.
