Reason, other than religion, to wait until marriage to have sex?

i have never seen any reason, religious or otherwise, to wait to have sex. if you are ready to have it, have it. as long as you know what can result from it, as long as you know how to handle it, then why wait? life is to short to hold back on something so pleasurable as sex.
